- WHAT IS MEDIA LITERACY?
Media literacy is a skill which required us to comprehend the online world nowadays. This kind of skill not only need people to understand social media, but also engage and learn of it. To define Media literacy, it can be the ability to analyze the online platforms, to learn values from online sources, to create PLN using the right platforms, and to engage in online communities.
- WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
I believe media literacy is important for people, because social media has infiltrated every part of our life. It is necessary for people to comprehend the usage of social media, and to acknowledge the policies and regulations while using social media. Though, on these open platforms we should also be aware of what we share, and be protective of our personal information.
- WHY IS IT DISMISSED?
Media literacy is dismissed because not everyone is taking social media in a critical way. When people first started to use social media, not everyone is using it as the same purpose, nor platform. The first impression always leaves people an important view of the internet, many may think they do not need to engage online so they don’t need much attention on media literacy. However, media literacy is not yet been taught to everyone, so because of that media literacy is dismissed.
- WHY SHOULD YOU AIM FOR VARIED VIEWS BUT THE FACTUAL CONSENSUS IN YOUR PLN?
Having varied views on internet and opinions for other people is not always a bad thing. There are limitless sources online, yet not every source is the right one for us. People may have different point of view on various events, though, listening to other people’s point may strengthen our knowledge and broaden our vision. To have varied views not only can help us to understand more, but also to increase the facticity of the source. When we already have numerous knowledge on the internet, it will be easy for us to find the best way to create our PLN. The reason for a factual consensus PLN is to make other people easy to get to know me, and conveniently engage on social media.

Hi Andrewz,
First, your blog is so beautiful, I love it! I agree with you, especially with regard to the last question. There are so many resources on the Internet. We need to choose the ones that suit us and get a deeper understanding of things through interaction.

Thanks for sharing! i agree with your comment about why media literacy is dismissed and how media is not taught to us, therefore we don’t understand it and aren’t able to utilize all of its benefits.
